The Story So Far...
I took my first ceramics class in and around 1971 being drawn to the feel of the clay, the synthesis and the process.
In light of pragmatism I continued making utilitarian ware and/or collaborating in the building of several ceramics and hot glass studios, while at the same time doing the craft faire dance that pretty much funded college and that free-of-employment lifestyle we all loved so well.
Post-1979, with a B.A. in Fine Art and when reality set in,
the next illogical step was to go into design engineering as a graphic illustrator and CAD draftsman, setting ceramics and glass design on the back burner.
After 25 years in the wings, the Process of Clay returns as I attempt to balance the intuitive right brain (art) with the analytical left brain (work).
I don't consider myself a potter in the traditional definition.
I'm more interested in the capabilities of the medium in a design sense. What will it do?
So, I'm back to my roots. Call it therapy, call it resurrecting my renaissance youth. Whatever it is, let's see what happens next.
